Where unified endpoint management stops being unified

Windows-first platforms thin out everywhere else.

Intune's Windows capabilities are more developed than its macOS and Linux support, which have fewer features and configuration options. Fleet manages every platform with consistent capability. The same queries work everywhere and policies apply regardless of operating system.

Linux support runs out first.

Workspace ONE has no built-in Linux support for remote lock and wipe. Fleet supports lock and wipe across macOS, Windows, Linux and iOS or iPadOS, enforces LUKS2 disk encryption on Linux, and deploys software and self-service installs there too.

Cloud only is a decision made for you.

Intune has no on-premises deployment option and Workspace ONE discourages on-premises. Fleet runs on-premises, on AWS, Azure or GCP, on Docker or Kubernetes, on your own hardware, or fully air-gapped, with identical features either way.

Your inventory should not run on a schedule.

Intune collects inventory on a cadence of every six to eight hours and has limited query capabilities. Fleet returns device state in under 30 seconds and lets you query any device in the fleet in SQL, on demand.

Fleet manages macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS, iPadOS, ChromeOS and Android from one console with consistent capability. The same queries work everywhere and policies apply regardless of operating system, so your team learns one console instead of context-switching between tools.

How is Fleet different from Intune?

Intune covers Windows well. Fleet covers Windows the same way and adds version-controlled configuration, live osquery data, real cross-platform parity, and an open source codebase you can run on your own infrastructure. Intune has no on-premises option and needs third-party tooling for GitOps.

What does Fleet actually do on Linux?

Fleet enforces LUKS2 disk encryption, supports remote lock and wipe, deploys software and patches, offers self-service installs, and returns live osquery data with SQL queries across every Linux host. It uses the same policies and the same GitOps workflow as every other platform.

Can we self-host, and does that cost us features?
